The Rigs o' Barley (song)
Words traditional; music by Leachman/Krimmel Tune- Barney Brallaghan's, traditional
The words of this ballad originate in Scotland. ‘Rigs’ are ridged rows in a field of crops. ‘Lammas night’ is the first of August, celebrating the first bread made by the first harvest of corn. The tune following is a traditional Irish slip jig called Barney Brallaghan’s.
